India's first agricultural university was inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. This university is now present in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. First Agricultural University of India


According to many reports, India's first agricultural university is Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology. It is also called "Pantnagar University'' and "Pant University". It was inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India on 17 November 1960. It was then called Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University. In the year 1972, this University of Agriculture and Technology was given the name of great freedom fighter Govind Ballabh Pant. The university is located in Pantnagar town of Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand. In India, this university is considered the precursor to the Green Revolution.
