The Uttar Pradesh government had organized Shri Anna Mahotsav from October 27 to 29, 2023. This three-day program was organized at Jupiter Hall, Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in the state. In this, those farmers were honored who had made significant contributions in millet production. To increase awareness regarding millets and the benefits of their cultivation, the Uttar Pradesh government had organized Shri Anna Mahotsav. The main objective of this program was to promote the use of millets and to recognize the efforts of progressive farmers who have made significant contributions in millet production. 

Also, this event, which took place just before Krishi Kumbh, was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Shri Anna Mahotsav was a state level event. Farmers from different divisions came together to share their experiences and knowledge. On the inaugural day, farmers from six divisions gathered to discuss the cultivation and consumption of millets. Farmers from five divisions participated on the second day. Also, on the last day, farmers from seven divisions participated in the program. Altogether, fifty progressive farmers from each division were part of the event. 


What is the main objective of Shri Anna Mahotsav

The main objective of Shri Anna Mahotsav is to create awareness among both the general public and farmers about the cultivation and consumption of millets within the state. It is a fact that millets are making their own place across the world for their many health benefits and their role in sustainable agriculture. To give more promotion to millets, around 40 stalls of various millets-based food products were set up during the event. This gave the attendees an opportunity to taste and appreciate a variety of dishes made from millets.

Farmers will also be honoured

Apart from promoting awareness about millets, the state government had also announced a scheme to honor farmers who have made significant contributions to millet production. Its objective is to make more and more farmers aware about the cultivation of millets and encourage them to adopt it across the state.


Sustainable agriculture will be promoted

Shri Anna Mahotsav is not just a festival of millets, it is an exercise towards making it a major part of the agricultural landscape of Uttar Pradesh. By involving farmers in this campaign, the government is likely to start the millets revolution. Apart from promoting sustainable agriculture, its consumption will also bring great improvement in the health and nutrition of the citizens.

The government has announced to increase the rates of sugarcane. In the present, 391 rupees per quintal will be given to the state's sugarcane Farmers accordingly. 


Apart from this, Punjab has now become the highest payer to sugarcane farmers in india. States like Haryana and others come after Punjab in this list. In paying highest to sugarcane, Punjab is at the first position and second position is acquired by Haryana. 386 rupees per quintal is given for sugarcane in Haryana. UP and Uttarakhand farmers are paid at the rate of 350 rupees per quintal. 


Farmers will get profit of this much rupees per quintal 

For your knowledge, let you know that state farmers have been demanding to increase the price of sugarcane for the past many days. State had been paying 380 rupees per quintal which has been increased to 391 rupees in present. At present, farmers will be getting 11 rupees extra per quintal after this decision. The Punjab government has decided this after the demands of farmers of the state.

Sugarcane farmers were demanding an increase in the price for a very long time. Government considering the demands of farmers, undertook this decision, for which farmers have also protested in past days. After this decision, the representative of farmers had a conversation with the chief minister of Punjab and the government assured them a hike in price. Along with this, demands of farmers was to increase the price upto 450 rupees per quintal. According to reports, after this decision of the Punjab government, Farmers will get more benefits. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government has presented the budget in Uttar Pradesh. Some big gifts have been provided to the farmers in this budget. 

Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh Government, Suresh Khanna has announced it while presenting the budget. These new announcements of the government will benefit lakhs of farmers in the state. In these schemes, there is mention of irrigation of crops and providing direct economic benefits to the farmers. 

These facilities were announced in the UP budget 

The Uttar Pradesh government has lifted the ban on new private tube well connections in the dark zone. About one lakh farmers will benefit from this decision of the Uttar Pradesh government. Along with this, the price of early varieties of sugarcane has been increased from Rs 350 to Rs 370 for the crushing season 2023-2024. The price of common variety sugarcane has been increased from Rs 340 to Rs 360. Along with this, the price of unsuitable varieties of sugarcane has been increased from Rs 335 to Rs 355. Along with this, seasonal tariff benefits and the facility of temporary electrical connectors have also been provided for the irrigation of Rabi crops in the Bundelkhand area.

Yogi government increased the pension of women farmers 

In the budget, the Uttar Pradesh government has also provided a lot of benefits to those women farmers whose husbands have died. Earlier, ₹500 per month was being provided by the government as a destitute women's pension. But, now it has been increased to a 3thousand rupees. Under the Women Farmer Empowerment Project, these women will also be provided technical support by forming 200 producer groups.
