UK scientists develop Rht13 variety of wheat.

UK scientists have researched a special variety of wheat and named it Rht13. This variety of wheat gives bumper production even on low moisture land or dry land.

The biggest problem in farming is in dry land. Due to the lack of good rainfall, clouds of disappointment appear on the faces of the farmers. If the rains are not good then the hopes of the farmers turn into disappointment. Now in such a situation, UK scientists have done research and prepared a new variety of wheat. Bumper production can be achieved by cultivating this variety of wheat even on dry land. At the same time, scientists have named this variety of wheat Rht13. This variety of wheat will give excellent production even on low moisture land or dry land.

Rht13 crop length will be shorter than conventional wheat. Farmers will get immense benefits from this crop. The most important thing is that it will give excellent yield even in areas with less water.

Main features of Rht13 wheat

Rht13 wheat is sown deep inside the ground. This is an excellent producing species. It has the power to grow well in different types of soil and climate. Rht13 Wheat contains a gene known as Rht13. This gene helps the plant to produce more branches and more grains. Due to the Rht13 gene, Rht13 wheat gives higher production than conventional varieties.

What are the benefits of Rht13 variety wheat to farmers?

Rht13 is beneficial for the farmers because Rht13 wheat gives about 20 percent more production than traditional varieties. Not only this, Rht13 wheat grows better in different types of soil and climatic conditions.

The Rht13 variety is also able to tolerate stormy weather

According to researchers, if wheat variety Rht13 is sown deep enough under the ground, it can benefit the farmers in many ways. It can withstand even storms. By cultivating it, farmers can get good profits with less labor.

The government has launched a scheme for farmers and villagers who are facing water problems on daily basis. The name of this scheme is Amrit Sarovar Yojana. This scheme has been brought by the central government for water conservation and to deal with a situation like drought. According to the scheme, 75-75 ponds to be constructed in each district across India by 15 August 2023. This will help in controlling the groundwater depletion during summer.

What are the features of Mission Amrit Sarovar?

Mission Amrit Sarovar was launched on 24th April 2022 and completed on 15th August 2023. It aims to develop and repair 75 Amrit Sarovars (ponds) in each district of India, which will collabratively make 50,000 Amrit Sarovars across India. Mission Amrit Sarovar has been completed on 15th August 2023. Mission Amrit sarovar will be based on "whole of government" with  jal shakti ministry , ministry of panchayat raj , ministry of environment , forest and climate change and technical organizations.

Under this mission, at least 75 Amrit Sarovars will be constructed or rejuvenated in every district of India. Each Amrit Sarovar will have a pond area of at least 1 acre with a water holding capacity of about 10,000 cubic metres. Every Amrit Sarovar will be surrounded by trees like Neem, Peepal and Banyan. Each Amrit Sarovar will be a source of livelihood by using water for multiple purposes like irrigation, fish farming, duck farming, shrimp farming, water tourism and other activities. Amrit Sarovar will also serve as a social meeting place in that area. Mission Amrit Sarovar is a example of action taken during Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
