Talking about the company's investment in developing the new tractors, Chavan said, "We have invested around Rs 200 crore on the project."

The 40-50 HP segment accounts for around 50 percent of sales in the domestic tractor industry. Swaraj manufactures tractors from its two manufacturing plants in Mohali, Punjab. “A third plant is also under construction,” Chavan said. It is likely to arrive by the third quarter of this year. We will commission it in the fourth quarter. The plant is in the final stages of implementation.” The new tractor range is priced at Rs 6.9 lakh for the base variant (42 HP) and goes up to Rs 9.95 lakh for the 50 HP top-end model.

Industry experts say that due to erratic monsoon and long festive season, sales in the month of October this time have been lower than last year. However, due to the purchase of Dhanteras and Diwali, the sale of tractors has seen a boom in November. It is expected that the sale of tractors in the month of November will be better than that of October.

Decline in the sales of tractor

According to a report published in Business Line, the country's top tractor manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra sold 49,336 tractors in October 2023 with a decline of 2 percent. Tractor sales of Escorts Kubota, on the other hand, fell 9 per cent to 12,642 units last month. The best performance in the sale of tractors was in the northern regions. Where they sold the most. Similarly, in the western and eastern regions, sales were good to a large extent due to the subsidy received under the government scheme. However, the sales of tractors in the southern regions were not good.

In November 2023, 403 Escorts Kubota export tractors were sold instead of 601 as in November 2022. Company registered a fall of 32.9% in the export market.

There has been observed a fall of 4.0% year to year in sales of Escorts Kubota. 70,069 tractors were sold in 2023 as compared to 72,952 tractors in 2022. Sales of Escorts Kubota domestic tractors was 66,196 units in 2023, which was 67,206 units in 2022.  As a result of which a decline of 1.5% was observed. In year after year export of Escorts Kubota tractors, 3,873 tractors were sold during 2023, whereas a decline of 32.6% has been noticed as compared to 5,746 tractors.
